Osteopathy and Pregnancy
Osteopaths can assess and treat many complaints which arise during pregnancy. Osteopathic treatment is also used to treat wry neck, reflux, feeding issues, colic, and related issues in babies and young children. This gentle therapy can help to settle children and it is safe for even the youngest child.Dr Jessie Wood is passionate about Osteopathy and she has a particular interest in the ways Osteopathy can help to improve women's health during pregnancy. To this end, Jessie has undertaken further research and study to develop her understanding of the issues associated with pregnancy and childbirth. She particularly enjoys assisting women to experience as comfortable a pregnancy as possible by helping the body to accommodate for postural, biochemical and weight changes. Jessie has a thorough understanding of the physiology of childbirth which makes her a great resource for women aiming for a natural birth, but also for women who have experienced complications during or after labour.
Jessie compassionately and gently treats mothers during the pregnancy phase and after childbirth. Whilst during pregnancy the physical changes are large it is often after childbirth that musculoskeletal issues can arise from breast feeding, carrying the baby, and recovering after childbirth. Jessie employs a holistic approach to treatment of the mother involving hands on treatment, coupled with discussion and advice to help new mothers manage their health in an ongoing way.
